Record Dungeon

In a glorious kingdom that thrives on the harmony between magic and art, epic tales of valor and hope have been passed from one generation to the next.
The records of these great chronicles uphold the peace and prosperity of all civilization. The kingdom sealed these records inside paintings, to safeguard the balance of the world.
That is until, without warning, the records within the paintings began to fade away... Darkness fell upon the world, bringing catastrophe and ruin.
The time has come for you to save the kingdom's future.

Tyro has restored the Battle Records held in the paintings, protecting the world from a terrible threat from beyond. Now as their investigation continues, they discover an ominous magic emanating from mysterious Corrupted Paintings. But these paintings do not hold Battle Records like the others. These new paintings hold Story Records chronicling the adventures of great heroes from across the realms.

  • The elements of wind, water, earth, and fire, embodied by the four Crystals, once brought balance and prosperity to the world. Now, a preternatural paradox throws the forces of nature into disarray, threatening to engulf the land in darkness. Although fear grips the populace, hope remains in a prophecy:
"When darkness veils the world, four Warriors of Light shall come."
One fateful day in the kingdom of Cornelia, four young travelers arrive with no memory of their past, each clutching a Crystal. Could they truly be the prophesied Warriors of Light?
Led by the light of the Crystals, they venture forth to restore peace to the realm; the first of their trials a battle with a fell knight. Little do they realize that this is only the beginning of an adventure that transcends time and space.

  • The ruthless emperor of Palamecia leads his demonic armies across the land, laying waste to all in his path. One by one the nations fall, and those without the will to resist are forced into servitude. When the conflict reaches the borders of Fynn, its people choose to fight, and are all but annihilated. After the loss of Castle Fynn, the survivors flee to nearby Altair, where the rebellion makes a temporary headquarters.
Among the survivors are Firion, Maria, and Guy; rescued by the rebel leader Princess Hilda and the white mage Minwu. Though young and implusive, they gain Hilda's trust and are allowed to join her battle against the empire. While the road ahead may be paved with loss and sacrifice, each victory brings them closer to reclaiming their homeland.

  • The Gulgan thus prophesied:
"The earthquake was only the beginning.
The great tremors that swallowed the crystals, the light of our world, only to spawn monsters from the depths of the scarred land, are nothing but harbingers of what has yet to come. Something is coming...fathomless, ominous, and full of sorrow...
But hope is not yet lost. Four souls will be blessed with light, and so it shall begin..."

  • The kingdom of Baron continues its conquest of neighboring nations with the unsurpassed might of its airship squadrons. The Crystals are the true targets, although the kingdom's plans for them remain unclear. Cecil Harvey, commander of the Red Wings, has been commanded to deliver the Carnelian Signet to the village of Mist. However, King Baron's motives are far more sinister than Cecil could have suspected...
Cecil soon finds himself in a battle to protect his loved ones, to discover his true identity, and to deliver the world from destruction.

  • Since time immemorial, the four Crystals have maintained the harmony of the elements, and the civilizations of man flourished. However, the light of the Crystals begins to wane, ominously portending dark days to come. Princess Lenna of Tycoon journeys in pursuit of her father, who has not been seen since leaving to investigate the Wind Crystal. Her path soon crosses with that of Bartz, a young adventurer whose heart is set on traveling the world. With each encounter and each bond they forge, they move closer to unraveling the mystery of the Crystals. Meanwhile, an ancient evil looms, plotting his return...

  • The ancient War of Magi.
When its flames at last receded, only the charred husk of a world remained. Even the power of magic was lost.
In the thousand years that followed, iron, gunpowder, and steam engines took the place of magic, and life slowly returned to the barren land.
Yet there now stands one who would reawaken the magic of ages past, and use its dread power as a means by which to conquer all the world.
Could anyone truly be foolish enough to repeat that mistake?

The Gestahlian Empire holds the world in an iron grip, its subjects living in fear and misery. It continues its research into the mystical beings known as "espers" in a bid to create ever more terrible Magitek weaponry. Meanwhile, the Returners resistance movement carries out covert operations, pursuing their goal of liberating the world from the Empire's oppressive rule.

  • Mako—the discovery of this natural resource drawn directly from the planet’s life force marked the dawn of a new era, and now the energy sustains the lives of people across the world. However, the Shinra Company has monopolized mako production, and in doing so established a powerful hegemony, its influence reaching the far corners of the globe.

Cloud, a former member of Shinra’s military organization, SOLDIER, joins the anti-Shinra resistance group AVALANCHE, despite caring little for their motives. During one of the group’s attempts to stop the company, they learn of the return of Sephiroth, Cloud’s nemesis, and that with his reemergence, the planet is in greater danger than anyone had expected.

  • In a world in which the ancient power of the sorceress lives on, people cower in fear of Sorceress Adel and the troops of Esthar, a nation advanced in both technology and magic. However, the great nation abruptly falls silent and closes its borders. The long-fought Sorceress War comes to an end, and peace is restored to the world.

But that was seventeen years ago, and now there is a new threat―the military nation of Galbadia has allied with Sorceress Edea for world domination. Squall, a member of Balamb Garden's mercenary force SeeD, together with his friends and Rinoa, a member of a resistance group, are shipped off to war, unaware of their fated task to save the world.

  • Strange events transpire on the Mist Continent, one of the four main lands of Gaia. The kingdom of Alexandria, ruled by Queen Brahne, begins their invasion of other nations under orders of Kuja, the "angel of death" from Terra. An accidental encounter in Alexandria brings Zidane, Vivi, and Garnet together, and they set out on a journey that leads them to discover the secrets of their past, the crystal, and a place to call home.

  • Spira―a world terrorized by the supernatural monster Sin. The temple of Yevon teaches that the monster is a physical manifestation of mankind's sins, and following the temple's teachings and atoning could purge it.

Yuna, a young woman from Besaid, is a summoner who embarks on a pilgrimage to defeat this terror. Tidus, a young man from another world, joins her as her guardian. The mysteries revolving around Sin unfold as they set off on a journey to save the world.

  • The world of Vana'diel is a crossroads of magic, swords, and technology. It is also a battlefield where those who believe in light face monsters that thrive in darkness. The struggle centers on the control of crystals: sacred stones that are the fundamental source of all creation.

The monsters showed no mercy as they laid waste to beautiful towns, ravaged the land, and polluted the streams and rivers of Vana'diel. But the people united to seize victory from the jaws of the beastmen, earning themselves temporary respite from a life-and-death struggle.

Twenty years have passed since the people's great victory. But now, even as the memories of battle have begun to fade, a new evil grows inside Vana'diel...

And it hungers for the power of the crystals.

  • As war looms on the horizon, the mighty Archadian Empire begins a campaign to subjugate its neighbors. The small kingdom of Dalmasca shares their fate. Two years after its fall, in the capital city of Rabanastre, the people line the streets to wait for the appointment of the new consul from Archadia. To Vaan, a young man living on the streets of Rabanastre, the empire is a hated enemy who took the life of his brother, the only family he had left. Vaan hatches a plot to break into the palace and take back the spoils of conquest from Dalmasca's occupiers.

He gets more than he bargained for when he meets Princess Ashe, the sole surviving heir to the Dalmascan throne, thought dead since the war. Together, they embark on an adventure spanning Ivalice that traces the mysteries behind the Archadian Empire's invasion.

  • Long ago, powerful, mechanical beings called the fal'Cie created the floating world of Cocoon, a utopia in which humans thrived and prospered under their rule. When fal'Cie from Gran Pulse, the feared lowerworld, are discovered in their midst, the Sanctum government of Cocoon orders a Purge to banish anyone associated with them. As former Guardian Corps soldier Lightning and her allies stand up against the government, they encounter the dreaded Pulse fal'Cie and are branded l'Cie―tools of the fal'Cie.

According to legend, should a l'Cie fail to fulfil their duty, otherwise known as their Focus, they turn into a Cie'th, a creature damned to wander the world unliving and undying. Should they succeed, they're rewarded eternal life in a crystal stasis. As Pulse l'Cie, the heroes carry a heavy burden, but they continue to embrace hope―hope for themselves and the future of Cocoon, and hope that miracles do come true.
